Ken’s Barbecue Baked Beans: A Family Favorite Recipe
Everyone in my family had a deep-seated fear of beans. We couldn't cook them, and we definitely didn't eat them. But after discovering a fantastic batch of beans, my taste changed, and I embarked on a mission to find the perfect barbecue baked beans for my family.

Soothe the Beans: Soak the beans in water overnight. Add a pinch of baking soda and salt to the water. Drain and rinse the beans. Sauté the Sausage: Fry the sausage until it is brown on both sides. Reserve the sausage and discard any excess grease. Cook the Vegetables: Sautee the chopped sweet onion and carrot in the reserved sausage grease until they’re browned. Combine Ingredients: Add the drained and rinsed beans, sautéed vegetables, and smoked brisket to a large pot. Stir to mix. Simmer: Add the tomato, onion, garlic can, root beer, and unfiltered apple juice. Add any drippings from other meats, but be sure to mix well.
