The End of Corruption: A New Heaven and a New Earth - Insights from Scripture
The question of whether the world will end on September 26th, or any other date, is often discussed through a variety of lenses. From a biblical perspective, the end of the world does not mean the end of the planet itself or of mankind, but rather the end of a corrupt, violent, and immoral world that man has created through self-rule. This article delves into the biblical teachings that describe the end times and the establishment of a new heaven and earth.
Understanding the Scriptures
Jeremiah 10:23, from the New American Standard Bible, reflects the understanding that the path a person takes is not solely determined by their own will. It emphasizes that each person's journey is guided by a higher power, which aligns with the biblical teachings on divine providence.
Expanding on this idea, Revelation 14:1-3 highlights how Christ and 144,000 men and women, chosen from throughout history, will form a government outside of human governance to establish a new world order. This governmental structure will be incorruptible, just, and benevolent, focusing on the well-being of all humanity.
A New Government for a New World
Revelation 5:9-10 reinforces the concept of a new governance, stating:
9 “And they sang a new song saying, ‘Worthy are You to take the scroll and to break its seals for You were slaughtered and You purchased people for God with Your blood from every tribe, language, people, and nation.’ 10 You have made them into a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth.”
These verses illustrate the noble purpose of the new government: to create a world where everyone is valued and can contribute to a better society.
Preparing for the New Earth
The new heaven and new earth will bring about a significant change, as described in Revelation 21:1-4:
“1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth passed away and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold the tabernacle of God is among the people and He will dwell among them and they shall be His people and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and there will no longer be any death, there will no longer be mourning or crying or pain the first things have passed away.’”
This passage paints a vivid picture of transformation and peace. The new earth will be a place where God’s presence is directly felt, and the struggles of the past will be eradicated. Every person will be part of a global community that has been chosen to participate in a divine plan.
Personal Reflection and Biblical Insights
As a Bible teacher, my sole source of guidance is the Bible itself. I provide straightforward interpretations and commentaries without adding personal or church opinions. The commentaries I offer are meant to be enriching and deepen one's understanding of what the Bible teaches.
I respectfully avoid debates and criticisms of others' beliefs. The ultimate decision on what to believe is left to the reader. My role is to provide a framework for understanding and reflecting on the scriptures.
In summary, the biblical end times include the establishment of a new government and a new earth to address the corruption and immorality of the current world. This transformation is not a prediction of an immediate end but a promise of a better, more just, and peaceful future.
