My suggestion for the best pizza near UCLA isn't very close, but it isn't far either. It is probably one of the top three pizza places in all of LA in my opinion, located in West Hollywood on the Sunset strip. This legendary rock and roll bar and hangout, The Rainbow Bar and Grill, also serves exquisite Italian cuisine.
The Rainbow Bar and Grill is famous for its thin crust pizza. The food is delicious, though it may not be in the same league as Spago or receive Michelin stars. The pizza is exceptional, but make sure to call ahead and use the valet service for an easier time on busy nights.
I've been eating their pizza since I was about 10 years old. My maternal grandmother, a first-generation American born Sicilian, taught me the ins and outs of Italian cuisine. The Rainbow's food, while not authentic Italian or Sicilian, is the epitome of delicious American-style pizza.
