Observations from Personal Experience
Based on my experience, the most popular area for US/Canadian immigrants is Condesa. It is certainly the most popular for Airbnbs and, as I've observed, many immigrants also live there. Roma comes in second, followed by Polanco. Other areas such as Coyoacán, La Roma Norte, and Tlalpan have their own merits, but they are less frequented by the expat community.
When I first moved to Mexico City, I heard about the neighborhoods of Roma, Condesa, and Polanco so much that I grew tired of hearing their names. They are often considered the 'typical' expat neighborhoods. However, the choice of neighborhood is highly individual and depends on personal preferences.
For me, I live in Naverá Páctlán, a less frequented but equally charming area. While there are a few expats in Naverá Páctlán, it is far from the concentration of expats found in the other neighborhoods mentioned. I prefer this quieter environment and the diverse mix of locals in my neighborhood.
